A page proving one thing: you turn up. Verified meetups, your rating, your no-show count. You publish it yourself, choose what it shows, and take it down whenever you like.

It works because a HangTing meetup only counts when both people scan each other's code at the venue. Nobody can claim one alone, so the number can't be inflated — which is what makes it worth showing to a stranger.

It proves attendance and nothing else: never who you met, where, when, or what kind of plan it was.

That's what it's designed for. Nothing is public until you publish it. The link is random rather than your name, so it can't be guessed. Search engines are told not to index it. And there's no email, phone, location or plan history on it anywhere.

One tap takes it down, immediately. The link dies rather than passing to someone else — we never reissue a handle.

Both, and it opens on hangouts. Most plans on HangTing are things like a Saturday hike, a games night, a coffee — and dating grows out of that rather than being the entry point.

We think that's the right way round. Meeting people first and seeing where it goes is how it works in life, and it takes the pressure off both sides. You can post either at any time; the toggle is one tap.

Apply from Profile → Run events. You need three things first: an account that's at least 14 days old, two verified meetups, and fewer than three recent no-shows. The app shows you exactly where you stand on each — no guessing.

"Verified" means the QR kind, where two phones were provably in the same place. A self-reported meetup doesn't count, because one person can claim those alone.

A person reads every application. If we say no, we tell you why, and you can apply again once you've addressed it.

Right now, honestly: not your identity. It checks that you're a real, established user who turns up to things — those are spam controls, not ID checks.

That's deliberate, and it's only defensible because no money passes through HangTing for organiser events. The moment we handle payments for you, the bar goes up and identity verification comes with it.

Not through HangTing yet. Make your event free or credits-based, or charge your own way — cash at the door, your own payment link outside the app — and say so when you create it. We show that prominently before anyone RSVPs, so nobody turns up expecting free.

We don't allow payment links on events. We can't verify where a stranger's link goes, and a link sitting on a HangTing screen looks like we vouched for it.

When we do add payments, the plan is that you are the merchant — the money goes to your own account rather than through ours, so we're never sitting on it.

Because a first event that goes wrong should disappoint forty people, not five hundred. The cap rises as you run events that work. It's a limit on how much can go wrong while we don't know you yet, not a judgement on your ambition.

So it can't be forwarded. A code that never changes can be screenshotted and sent to a friend hours before doors, and it would scan perfectly. Yours regenerates every 30 seconds, which makes a screenshot worthless almost immediately.

You don't need to do anything — keep the ticket screen open at the door and it refreshes itself.

Leave. Then tap "I'm here but I don't feel safe" on the plan.

No penalty, no mark on your profile, and your staked credits come straight back. Your date is told the plan ended — never that you left or why, because that would point them straight at you.

We don't require your location. Sharing it helps us spot wider patterns, but declining changes nothing about your outcome. And there's no cap on using it: "you've used up your safety exits" isn't a sentence we're willing to write.

Possibly — a small credit deduction, and only if the organiser actually ran the door that night. If nobody was scanned in, we don't assume anything about who turned up: that means we have no data, not that you didn't come.

If your ticket cost credits or money, you're not charged anything extra. You already lost what you staked, and one absence shouldn't be paid for twice.

Profile → Help & support. It's a real queue with a status you can see, not an inbox that swallows things — you'll see when your message has been picked up and when it's resolved.

Anything you flag as a safety issue jumps ahead of everything else, regardless of when it was sent.

Every account starts with a credit balance. Applying to join a plan stakes 3 credits. Both scan each other's QR code at the meetup and you get those 3 back plus 3 more (up to +2 extra for a great rating).

Those figures are for meeting someone new — that's what HangTing is for. Meet the same person again and you still earn, just a little less each time, so nobody can farm credits by "meeting" the same friend on repeat. Regulars keep earning; loops don't pay.

Bailing last-minute costs 5 credits; a confirmed no-show costs 10 and adds a visible flake mark.

Applicants always get their staked credits back automatically, however late you cancel. Cancelling within 24 hours of the start costs you 5 credits only if you had already accepted someone — if nobody joined, cancelling is free whenever you do it. Nobody was stood up.

Credits aren't a paid currency — they're a reliability signal, not money, so there's nothing to refund in the traditional sense. If credits were deducted in error, contact support and we'll review it manually.

HangTing is free to join, post plans, apply, chat, and meet up. HangTing Plus (KES 299/month or KES 2,999/year) and Boost (KES 149 for 24 hours) are optional paid extras, priced in KES and payable via M-Pesa in Kenya, or by card or PayPal anywhere else (PayPal converts to USD at a fixed rate).

When you arrive, each person generates a short-lived QR code in the app and the other person scans it. Once everyone has scanned, the plan is marked Verified — the only path that ever counts as a hard "verified meetup" on your profile.

Scan while you're actually at the venue and it earns the top tier, Verified at venue. That check is entirely optional and never blocks anything: with location switched off, or a weak signal indoors, your meetup is still fully verified. It's a bonus for showing up, not a hurdle — and we only ever store whether you were at the venue, never where you were.

After a grace period, each participant can self-report whether the meetup happened. If everyone agrees you met, credits settle but it isn't counted as QR-verified. A no-show report against a silent party costs that party credits and a flake mark; total silence forfeits everyone's stake.

Every plan is tagged as either a Date (spark, romantic intent) or a Hangout (volt, platonic/social intent) so expectations are clear before anyone applies. Both modes live in the same feed.

Yes. When applying, you can invite a friend as a +1. They get their own notification and must explicitly accept before they're added — nobody is pulled into a plan without consenting first.

Yes — and it's deliberate. Each plan gets its own chat (text, voice notes, and photos), and it closes to new messages 7 days after the plan's scheduled start time: enough time to reminisce and line up the next plan, not enough to turn into an ongoing DM. Messages are cleaned up automatically after the window closes, unless a safety report is open on that plan.

No. The map and search only ever show fuzzy, privacy-preserving circles around a plan's area — never your or the host's exact address — until you've been accepted into a plan.

Not yet. HangTing is Android-first for now. iOS support is planned for a later phase once the Android experience is solid — join early access to be notified, wherever you are.

HangTing Plus is KES 299/month (about US$2.30) or KES 2,999/year (about US$23) and raises your active-plan limit, adds bonus credits, ranks your plans higher, and includes one free 24-hour Boost every 30 days. Yes. Report a user or a specific plan directly from the app, or use the report form on our Contact page. Our team reviews every report, and repeated flaking or unsafe behavior can lead to suspension.

Yes, fully self-serve from Settings → Danger zone. It cancels your own live plans (refunding applicants), removes you from every chat, deletes your photos, and anonymizes your account. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what's deleted vs. retained.

Curated events are HangTing-vetted group meetups — hikes, socials, live music nights — that you apply to like any plan, with the same credit stake and QR verification, just with more people and a set venue. RSVP with credits, or with real money when a ticket has a price — M-Pesa in Kenya, or card/PayPal anywhere else.
